Welcome all players, supporters and officials to this round 1 clash against newly promoted Raymond Terrace. After winning the Zone League 2 competition last season, Raymond Terrace will be looking to get off to a positive start in League 1, whilst the Kotara boys will be eager to get out and play for points after a few new and returning faces during the preseason campaign.

Throughout the off-season, there’s been a bit of turnover of players either coming or going. Welcome, or welcome back, to the following list of new and returning players: Steve Russell, Jason Mould, Benn Corbett, Tom Tredinick, Lee Ashton, Dave Naylor, Chris Reeves, Mitch Welham, Chris Herb, Jorge Martins, Adrian Rowe, Dino Parente, Chris Thodas.

Whether or not they’ve come back for one final hurrah, or looking for a long career in the orange and black, we wish them all the best for their time at Nesbitt Park. Furthermore, farewell and thank-you to the following players who left us at the end of 2012, or are having the 2013 season off: Luke Withers, Jake Brandrick, Shaun Coutman, Andrew Wood, Ben Jones, Tom Sullivan, Ashley Powell, Nathan Carlyle, Rhiley Cox-Ryan, Brent Cullen, Nick Horan, and of course the retirement of 500 gamer and club legend Paul “Crusher” Graham.

Also, Pat Considine, Jamie Kingshott and Jarryd Crowe have various injuries and will be out of action for sometime yet, and possibly may not register. Hope to see you back in action soon boys!

In reflection of season 2012, it has to go down as a successful season, although one where we were entitled to be disappointed to not snatch higher honours. Our 1st grade side made the finals for the first time in roughly 10 years, and were unfortunate in missing a GF spot on away goals. Our reserve grade side missed the finals by a point, and would have given the finals a hell of a shake if they’d scraped in. Our ever consistent 3rd grade side made yet another Grand Final, this time falling at the final hurdle to a very hungry Wallsend outfit. So congratulations to all involved in 2013, but just remember how it felt to go so close yet so far away.
