Kotara Tigers

Wynaldo Can't WAIT . . .
We are getting closer to the big game. It's getting to all of us. Wynaldo is as excited as a pig in shit.

The Kotara players are getting nervous as well, even the lads who have extensive experience at the club. Wynaldo can't wait to get going:
Wynaldo Jones said: "I am looking forward to the first game. When I drove into training for the first time I got goosebumps coming to see the lads, shaking their hands and having a bit of a laugh and a joke.

"I've never been this excited coming into pre-season and with the added pressure of taking control of the Reserve Grade Team - I'm raring to go!

"I can't wait for the first game and kick on from there."

Tigers Prop Up Bar After Late Night Drinking Session!

Mark Mansfield expects Kotara to be without Tom Tridennick and Mitch Allan when they take on Raymond Terrace on Sunday afternoon.

Tridennick has picked up a groin injury and will be denied his second debut for Kotara after arriving on a free transfer over the summer, while Mitch Allan's knee injury will keep him on the sidelines. Mansfield says neither injury is serious but he is unwilling to take any risks so early in the season.

Mansfield said: 'We've got a few players who might not play, Mitchy Allan is carrying a knee injury so he won't be considered and we've got two or three others that I'll make a decision about on Sunday. So we could be without three or four of our players but none of the injuries are serious.'
Has he signed yet? Yes. At last!

Lee Ashton held up his new Kotara number 4 shirt at Stadio del a Nesbitt today after signing a 12months contract and declared he was 'excited to play for Kotara'.

Mark Mansfield said after signing Tom Tridennick early pre-season that his priority was to sign Lee Ashton. It's took longer than the fans and we're sure the manager expected, but a £4.5m deal has been struck.

Mansfield Has Injury Worries . . .

Kotara manager Mark Mansfield has admitted he was 'disappointed' that several Tigers players stayed out drinking until 2am on Saturday morning - describing it as "an error of judgement".

Mansfield told Sky Sports News today: "It was an error of judgement. They know I was disappointed with that.

"But there were a lot of players who weren't out at all, so they shouldn't be tarred with the same brush."

However, Mansfield was approached with evidence that he himself was also drinking at the same bar. His representatives failed to comment.

Meirinho Wants More of the Same . . .
The Wyn Jones era is under way!
All the pre-match hype surrounding Tigers new reserve team
manager, Wyn 'Meirinho' Jones, didn't disappoint.

Following a passionate pre-game speech, Jones walked out of the
tunnel to acknowledge the rapturous welcome from the faithful Tigers and took his seat in the dug-out hoping for a decent start
to his managerial career.

He got more than that!

A comfortable 3-0 victory against newly promoted Raymond Terrace made sure it was a day to remember. However, following the victory, Jones was quick to challenge his Kotara players to maintain the
quality to achieve a top-four finish in the Z F League One this
season.

Jones told Sky Sports News: "Its been a terrific day! One which
will live in the memory for a long time to come. However, it's
very early in the season and we haven't achieved anything yet!
We've got a good start - but that's all it is.

There's some quality teams in the league this season! We've
got to build up the momentum and maintain the quality we
showed today to ensure we have a chance of finishing in the
top-four".
Stadio Nesbitt Gives us the Edge
We have all got to crank it up on Sunday. We need to lift the teams and also ourselves. Let's get the Old Lady rocking.
'Tim the Tiger' reckons that Stadio de la Nesbitt gives us the edge in Round 3's game against Belmont.

Tim Horan said: "I would ask the fans to get right behind us from the first minute to the last. The one thing for us is that we're at Nesbitt!! The pitch is in pristine condition and with favourable weather on the cards, we can make it a cauldron-like atmosphere for the opposition".

Wyn Meirinho Turns Down United Job to Stay with Tigers!

Tigers Reserve Manager Wyn Jones has opted to stay at the Z F League One club after holding preliminary talks to discuss the vacant manager's post at Manchester United.
The 32-year-old is understood to have met officials from the Premier League club on Wednesday morning before flying back to Australia. However, having asked for time to consider his options, Jones has told the Tigers he is committed to the club.

Jones's decision leaves village idiot Steve Devitis as the leading contender for the United post, despite being tactically inept and generally having no idea after calling the beautiful game "soccer".

Jones told Sky Sports News: "I see a lot of people rushing into the top jobs too quickly," he said.
"In two years they are finished, with their reputations in tatters. There are a lot of crazy owners out there. I want to gain experience at grass roots level and earn my trade".
Zidane: Herb One of World's Best!

Zinedine Zidane believes Chris Herb is one of the best three players in the world and "more than good enough" for Real Madrid.
Zidane's comments are sure to add to fears over a bid from the Bernabeu in the summer. The Real ambassador hailed Herb's blistering start to the season having scored consecutive hat-tricks and ranked the Australian in the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Zidane told reporters: "I've been watching Kotara because Chris Herb
has been playing there. Aside from Ronaldo and Messi, he is the player
who has impressed me the most in the world. He is
outstanding. What has particularly impressed me is
that he is consistent. It's not just been in one or two
matches.

He is consistently scoring spectacular goals and
very important goals. He is very quick, skilful and
exciting. Of course all the talented players
like that can come to Real Madrid. Is he
good enough for Real Madrid? Of course.
He is more than good enough to play for
Real Madrid."

Kotara's Reserve Team Manager Wyn Meirinho
dismissed Zidane's comment, accusing the
former World Cup winner as "trying to unsettle
the player".
Watch out Coleen Rooney! There's a new WAG on the block - and she means business.

Tigers star and First Grade Manager, Mark Mansfield, has proposed to his girlfriend Clemma Bendeich. Mansfield took no time to sweep Clemma off her feet as Ryan Giggs and John Terry waited in the wings for any subsequent news.
Mansfield's agent Steve Devitis added: "I am pleased to say that Clemma Bendeich has accepted Mark Mansfield's surprise engagement proposal here in Australia. "They are obviously both delighted but there are no immediate wedding plans, and the couple will not be making any further comment on this happy and private occasion."

The whole Tigers Team would like to congratulate them both and wish them every happiness in the future.

Sky Sports also understands that fellow Tigers man, Mitch Allen, is now under considerable pressure to emulate Mansfield and propose to his long term girlfriend Kelly.

A New WAG on the Block!

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of numerous kit bags which contained personal and valuable belongings. The incident happened during Sunday's First Grade clash at Garden Suburbs, in which masked men were seen running from the club house.

Reserve Team Manager Wyn Jones told reporters: "I was really scared".

One of the victims thought to be affected was life long Tigers fan and player, Phillip Keating.

A spokeswoman believed to be his mum said Mr Keating was distraught as he stumbled through the front door in his strapped 'moon-boot'. Earlier in the game, things went from bad to worse for Mr Keating as a slight milk deficiency in his ankle seemed to give way.

She added, "he was really annoyed and upset because people knew how much the
new training and club top meant to him"

Mr Keating was later seen at the Blackbutt with a plastic sandwich-bag as a wallet.
Club officials released a statement early this morning stating that an 'Official Phil
Keating Appeal' will be launched at the next home game against Beresfield.

Club president Dave Hopson told CNN News: "We would really
like to do this for Phil. He's been a great servant to the club and no
player should have his Tigers club shirt stolen - its harrowing.

A donation tin will be available at the club shop.

Let's get right behind this worthy cause!
Phil feeling 'Filthy' after kit bag ordeal

Kotara crowd favourite and club treasurer Christopher Thodas, praised the resilience of all three Tiger sides after a hard fought and dramatic Saturday at Nelson Bay.
Thodas told the Newcastle Herald: "I was really proud of the lads! All three grades gave grity performances against fellow play-off contenders Nelson Bay. Whilst not pretty at times, we showed true resilience and Tiger pride".
Thodas also stressed "we won't be taking anything for granted. We a favourable stretch of fixtures coming up, and there is no reason why all three grades shouldn’t be playing in the season play-offs. That’s what we're here for!
The lads need to focus and get to training, work hard and everything will fall into place. We have a really good opportunity here, to go down in history".
Keep up the good work lads.

WYN MEIRINHO carried on his controversial reign as Kotara Tigers Reserves Manager, following a dramatic 2-2 draw at fellow play-off contenders
Nelson Bay.
The game seemed to be slipping away from the Tigers, as time ebbed
towards the 90th minute. However, following a marauding run from
cultured centre-back, Ian Owen, he slotted a dramatic equiliser from
10yards to send Meirinho bananas.
The ensuing celebration can only be seen as a young manager
under considerable pressure. Wyn Meirinho emphatically ran onto
the pitch to celebrate with his players and then proceeded to run
down the touchline, goading his counterpart with 'hands
to ears' gestures.
Has he finally gone mad?
Meirinho said: "I couldn't help myself! All game they had
been shouting 'f*ck off back to Scotland'. I'm not even
Scottish. It was an incredible finish to a pulsating game.
I'm really proud of the lads, they battled to the very
end".

Tigers start pre-season programme right against Olympic

Tigers beat Kahibah to lift the Cup

JAMIE KINGSHOTT (aka Pom.com) has been Tigers’s top shirt-shifter this summer - shirts with his name on the back outselling even fans favourite Chris Herb.
A few more will fly off the shelves this week after the cultured English striker got the Tigers' pre-season programme off to a winning start at Merewether Stadium. Kingshott, who ended last season so impressively after his £8.5million switch from Arsenal, picked up where he left off. A brace against Greek outfit Olympic, was the perfect tonic after a gruelling few weeks of pre-season training.
Kingshott told Sky Sports News: "as a stiker, I'm paid to score goals - it's what I do. Getting off the mark so soon in pre-season is obviously pleasing but there's a lot of hard work still to do in the coming weeks".
In other news, Mark Mansfield has worked his magic on Kotara already — according to Tigers midfielder David Hopson . The veteran stalwart has revealed how the Tigers boss has completely revamped pre-season training — cutting down on long-distance running to focus on ball-work. Hopson said: "as a club, we're begning to reap the benefits of a demanding pre-season with the ball. I know the boys are enjoing the new pre-season set up and are rearing to go".
Things are certainly looking bright for the forthcoming season.

A dramatic day unfolded yesterday as the Kotara Tigers 3rd Team triumphed in one of the best finals seen in decades. Heading into the final with the unwanted 'favourites tag', the Tigers showed no remorse as they
destroyed Kahibah 3-1 at the Edden Oval.
An emotional Peter Jones blubbered: " It's one of the
proudest moments of my career, to lead the team out at Edden Oval
in the Grand Final - FANTASTIC! We had a game plan and fortunately
it worked".
Jones, already widely admired in management, will be
in demand even more - especially with Everton
looking to replace Manchester United-bound David
Moyes.
Tigers Chairman David Hopson cheered as the final
whistle blew "it's what we live for - days like these. All
the credit must go to the boys. What an amazing day".

Tigers Secretary, Tim Horan, also in Glendale, said: “We
are delighted to be signing a new twelve months deal
with Shammy's. We consider Shammy's to be very much
a part of the extended Tigers family".
Shammy's boasts the latest 'Laser Brushless Car Washing' facility, which has been newly installed at Glendale. Head down this week
for $10 carwashes between 9am and 4pm.
